I had an amazing opportunity to visit the women of Weekend Sewing & even though my time was limited & both visits were squished in between working, bachelorette parties & play dates with Franco, I am so glad that I made the drive. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the event, for the past couple of summers Heather Ross has hosted a sewing retreat at the Blueberry Hill Inn in Goshen, Vermont where roughly 14 lucky sewists get the opportunity to relax, eat good food & sew all weekend with Heather & co-hosts Liesl Gibson of Oliver + S and Denyse Schmidt. Lucky ladies! The atmosphere was perfect & I had a fabulous time. The first weekend I was invited to join the group for dinner at the inn. Naturally I dragged Ashley. Heather & Liesl are both lovely, outgoing, creative women & we all hit it off right away. I was delighted to see Jessica there who was the token Vermonter of the sewing group & she had learned how to sew at nido so that was pretty cool. Ashley showed her quilts & everyone was in awe. The girl is talented! The following weekend Ashley & I were invited back down to attend Denyse Schmidt’s patchwork purse workshop. Another FABULOUS time with the Weekend Sewing ladies & this time I had the opportunity to meet Denyse who is absolutely beautiful & her work is just so inspiring! Very cool. Oh & some exciting news for all you locals–Heather & I talked about the possibility of doing a little workshop at nido at some point so I’ll keep you guys posted!

Sooooooo adorable!
Also, by popular demand we have made new Anna Maria Horner voile scarf kits. I don’t know about you but I could certainly use a few of these!

Eric & I just returned from our Maine motorcycle trip. It was quite a vacation filled with adventure & good times but one of my highlights was meeting the fabulous girls of Alewives! I stopped in just to take a peek at their shop since I have heard so many wonderful things about them but of course I chatted away about fabric & sewing & left feeling like I had just spent the morning with friends. It was so reassuring to meet another shop owner who has a modern twist on sewing.I think we could have talked for hours! Very cool girl! If you are ever traveling the mid-coast of Maine I would highly recommend stopping by Alewives & saying hello to Rhea.

Ashley from Film in the Fridge was kind enough to loan us a few of her quilts to show off for the month of June. If you have never visited Ashley’s blog before–you must! Her quilts are a fresh take on modern quilting & are always made from the latest collections of designer fabrics. Right now at nido you can view quilts made from Anna Maria Horner’s Little Folks Voile collection, Denyse Schmidt’s Hope Valley and Laurie Wisbrun’s Tufted Tweets. What a treat to see them in person & of course very inspirational as well!
