A Gift for Abuela

December 19th, 2009

4I wanted to make a little something for the holidays for my abuela. She has this adorable apron that she always wears around the house.  It has cap sleeves & buttons down3 the back & really is more of a 50’s smock than an apron but I have always LOVED it! Since my abuela and I have the same appreciation for a good apron that is not only functional but fashionable as well, I thought I would make her the reversible apron from Lotta Jansdotter’s Simple Sewing.

For abuelas’ apron I used P and B fabric in cranberry & Kaffe Fassett’s Persian Vase in Black.  I altered the pattern a bit to make the straps longer & the same color.

NEW Fabric…

December 18th, 2009

Little Folks by Anna Maria Horner is printed on 54″ cotton voile that is super soft & has a gorgeous drape. My Happy Garden by Cloud 9 Fabrics is a collection of whimsical prints that are so sweet & are made from 100% organic fibers. LOVE by Amy Butler and Nicey Jane by Heather Bailey have also arrived–it has been a busy week at nido–stocking the shelves with all of this beautiful fabric while daydreaming about the sewing projects that MUST be done with all of these new inspirational prints!
